The image above is a clue for a murder mystery game. The clue is:

2S + 3O_2 = 2SO_3

Based on the balance reaction above, it means that the numbers 2, 3, and 2 stand for the number of moles of sulfur, oxygen, and sulfur trioxide involved in the reaction.

So, to me, my own possible solutions to the clue are:

  1. The victim was stabbed 2 times with a hockey stick, and there were 3 witnesses to the murder.
  2. The victim was poisoned with sulfur trioxide, and there were 2 different types of evidence found at the crime scene: a sulfur-containing compound and an oxygen-containing compound.
  3. The victim was a chemist who was working on a new method for producing sulfur trioxide. He was killed by an explosion in his lab, and the numbers 2, 3, and 2 stand for the number of moles of sulfur, oxygen, and sulfur trioxide that were involved in the explosion.
