Two students in Mr. Thompson's class, Jack and Brenna, have been assigned a workbook to complete at their own pace. They get together at Jack's house after school to complete as many pages as they can. Jack has already completed 92 pages and will continue working at a rate of 15 pages per hour. Brenna has completed 93 pages and can work at a rate of 14 pages per hour. Eventually, the two students will be working on the same page. How long will that take? How many pages will each of them have completed?

Explanation:

x = number of hours

the 2 students will be at the same page, when their progress functions are equal.

92 + 15x = 93 + 14x

15x = 1 + 14x

x = 1

after one hour working they will be on the same page :

92+15 = 93+14 = 107.
