1. What is the author's claim in the selected reading? In other words, what do you believe the

author wants their audience to learn or understand better once they have finished reading?

The author’s claim in “Some Lessons from the Assembly Line” is that they want the reader to

understand that factory life is hard and that they need to do well in school so that they can have

better jobs at better pay. He is stressing the importance of understanding how factory life has

shown him that he wants his future might be if he did not to college. He is letting the reader

know that his experience of factory life showed him how lucky he is to be able to get an

education, how to work hard, and how easy it is to lose once you have it. He is trying to convey

to reader to make the most of their college years before they must enter the “real world” of

working.

2. Have you identified new key points that the author uses to support their claim in the selected

I identified most of the key points of the author for the article “Some Lessons from the Assembly

Line” in my first assignment but I will identify most of them again. Explaining the key points

from the article have remained the same because these key points are how he delivers the
