Given :
- Two linear equations in two variables .
- -4x +3y = -12
- -2x + y = 6
To Find :
- The solution of the equation by elimination method .
Solution :
Multiplying the 2nd equation with 2 , we have ,
→ 2(-2x + y) = 6*2
→ -4x + 2y = 12 . . . . . (3)
Subtracting equations 1 and 3 , we have ,
→ -4x +3y -(-4x + 2y) = -12-12
→ -4x + 3y + 4x - 2y = -24
→ y = -24
Substituting the value in equation 1 ,
→ -4x + 3(-24) = -12
→ -4x - 72 = -12
→ -4x = 72-12
→ -4x = 60
→ x = 60/-4
→ x = -15
Hence the solution point is (x,y) = (-15,-24).
