Hey there!

3q - 5 = 13

ADD 5 to BOTH SIDES

3q - 5 + 5 = 13 + 5

CANCEL out: -5 + 5 because it gives you 0

KEEP: 13 + 5 because it help solve for the q-value

NEW EQUATION: 3q = 13 + 5

SIMPLIFY IT!

3q = 18

DIVIDE 3 to BOTH SIDES

3q/3 = 18/3

CANCEL out: 3/3 because it gives you 1

KEEP: 18/3 because it give you the q-value.

NEW EQUATION: q = 18/3

SIMPLIFY IT!

q = 6

Therefore, your answer is: q = 6

Good luck on your assignment & enjoy your day!
