The table shows the rainfall for 12 months.

The median value takes account of the value in the middle after arranging in order from least to greatest. Hence we now have,


0.43,0.46,0.50,0.74,0.78,1.11,1.89,2.18,2.27,2.35,2.73,2.85

From the data set above, the middle values are 1.11 and 1.89 (since the data set is an even number) and that means the median is


\begin{gathered} \operatorname{median}=(1.11+1.89)/(2) \\ \operatorname{median}=(3)/(2) \\ \operatorname{median}=1.5 \end{gathered}

The Median monthly rainfall is 1.50 inches
