How is the entry of bacteria with food dealt by the digestive system

Enzymes in saliva kill some bacteria and protect the mouth from infection. When food reaches the stomach, much of it is sterilized by the hydrochloric acid in digestive juices. Further into the digestive tract, the friendly bacteria living in the intestines provide protection from invading bacteria
