How to determine the x and the y intercept of the function

From the question, we have the following parameters that can be used in our computation:

x - (y + 2) = 3(x - 2y + 1)

We set x to 0 to calculate the y-intercept

So, we have

0 - (y + 2) = 3(0 - 2y + 1)

Evaluate

-y - 2 = -6y + 3

This gives

6y - y = 2 + 3

Evaluate

y = 1

We set y to 0 to calculate the x-intercept

x - (0 + 2) = 3(x - 2(0) + 1)

So, we have

x - 2 = 3x + 3

Evaluate

2x =- 5
