Let me draw both triangles here below:

We know that two triangles are similar if there's a ratio in their sides.

In this case, we have a ratio of 2/3

Now, the ratio for the areas will be equal if we elevate the sides to the square. I mean,

We have a ratio of 2:3, so the ratio for the areas is the same for 2²:3², which is 4:9

Now, we can stablish a relation with the area that we know:

So, the area of the triangle DEF is 2.67in²
