Cells are made up mainly of proteins and carbohydrates how do these molecules function in the cell membrane

Specific proteins can help transport molecules into the cell, settled in some parts of a phospholipid bilayer, meanwhile carbohydrates participate in cell recognition and adhesion, choosing which molecules can transport into the cell.
