The sum of 3x and (1-3x) would be 3x+(1-3x).
The equivalent expression can be solved:
1. Distribute.
3x+1-3x
2. Group like terms to make it easier
3x-3x+1
3. Subtract. 3x-3x is 0, so we are left with
1
