I can hardly read the signs between the dimensions. This is my best guess.

Area Shaded = Area Rectangle - Area Triangle

Area Rectangle = (x + 5)(x + 6)

Area Triangle = 1/2 (x + 5 ) ( x + 6)

Area shaded = (x + 5)(x+6) - 1/2 (x + 5)(x + 6)

Area shaded = 1/2 (x + 5)(x + 6)

Area Shaded = 1/2 (x^2 + 11x + 30)

If the second factor (x + 6) is really x - 6 then the area of the shaded area is 1/2 (x+5)(x - 6)

Area Shaded = 1/2 * (x^2 - x - 30)
