A clothing store is selling shirts and ties at 35% off.

Shirts are $18 and ties are $10.

If S represents shirts and T represents ties, which expression below could represent the cost of buying shirts and ties after the 35% discount?

HINT: Think about how you can find the total price of the shirts and ties. Think about the discount. If you are getting a 35% discount, what percent of the full price then are you paying?

Answer:

If $18 = 100%

Price of S= 65%

Price of shirt=65 ÷ 100 ×$18

=$11.7

If $10 = 100%

Price of T = 65%

Price of ties =65 ÷100 × $10

=$6.5
