-8x - 2y = 10

Move the -8x term to the other side of the equation by adding 8x to each side.

-8x - 2y = 10

-8x + 8x - 2y = 10 + 8x

-2y = 10 + 8x

Now divide both sides by -2 to isolate the 'y':

-2y/-2 = (10+8x)/-2

y = -5 - 4x
