Answer: x = 44

I assume we are finding x, so to find x, we must first realise that if we have a quadrilateral, the exterior angles will always = 360°

So if we know the sum of these 4 exterior angles will be = to 360.

We have (3x + 2) + (x+5) + (2x+1) + (2x) = 360°

So we can first combine alike terms, so x + 2x + 2x + 3x = 8x. And 2 + 5 + 1 = 8. So we now have 8x + 8 = 360°

Now, we will find x by getting it on one side of the equal sign by itself. To do this, we will get rid of +8 by subtracting 8 from both sides. So 8x + 8 - 8 = 360 - 8. Giving us 8x=352. Then, to get x instead of 8x, we can divide both sides by 8, so 8x/8 = 352/8, giving us x=44

If you want to check your work, just plug 44 into x, from the equation from earlier, 8x+8=360. So we have 8(44)+8=360. multiply 8 by 44, giving us 352, then add 8, giving us 360. confirming if x is equal to 44, the sum of the exterior angles will be 360°
