Two rival dry cleaners both advertise their prices. Store A's prices are modeled by the expression 25x-9 where x is the number of items brought in. Store B's prices are modeled by the expression 5(5x+8), where x is the number of items brought in. When do the two stores charge the same rate? Write the equation and show the work to justify your response.

Answer: never

Explanation:

Store A's prices are represented by the expression 25x-9

Store B's prices are represented by the expression 5(5x+8)

To find when the 2 stores charge the same rate , we set the expression equal and solve for x

25x-9 = 5(5x+8)

25x -9 = 25x + 40

Subtract 25x on both sides

-9 = 40

We cannot solve for x

So , the price of two stores never be same

Two stores never charge the same rate
