for the first side, start off with this.

6.5x+5=8x+6.5

6.5x+5=8x+1.5
-1.5 -1.5

6.5x+3.5=8x
-6.5x -6.5x

3.5=1.5x

at this point you divide by 1.5

3.5=1.5x

x=2 this is one side of the walkway/garden

now for the second side:
21+15=36

now to find the area, do 36x2.
36x2=72.
