Explanation:

Looking at the pattern of what is given for the bottom section. I can count two sections as being 6 blocks and then between those sections I would count 4 blocks. This would be true for the bottom and the top. The middle holding up the top and the bottom would need 4 more blocks for each "pillar"

2(6 + 6 + 4 + 4) + 4(4) = 56

If I use that same patter with the new structure

2(7 + 7 + 5 + 5) + 4(5) = 68
