A) Go along the bottom and find 1, then go straight up to 8 and plot a point. Then go along the bottom and find 2, then go straight up to 6 and plot the second point. Go along the bottom to 3 and go straight up to 2 and plot the third point. Lastly, go along the bottom to 4 and go up one and plot a point.

You will see that you graph is not a straight line, so it is nonlinear.

It is a function because every input (x) value, has only one output (y) value.
