is.

xy − y1 = m(x−x1)

where m is the slope and (x1 - y1 ) a point on the line

to calculate m use the

gradient formula

m= y2−y1

x2−x1

let ( x1 , y1) =( 8, 5) and ( x2 ,y2 ) = (0, −4)

⇒ m= -4-5/0-8= -9/-8= 9/8

using m= 9/8 and (x1- y1) = (8,5) then

y-5= 9/8(x-8)
