Answer: 1.2 miles

You can find the answer by using the pythagorean theorem.

a^2 + b^2 = c^2.

(5000)^2 + (4000)^2 = c^2

25 million +16 million = c^2

41 million = c^2

Take the square root of both sides in order to get the value of C.

C = about 6,403 feet.

1 mile = 5280 feet

6403/5280 = 1.2

Buddy would walk about 1.2 miles
