How do you go from dna to rna to proteins?

The enzyme RNA polymerase (green) uses DNA as a template during transcription to create a pre-mRNA transcript (pink). The pre-mRNA is processed to produce a mature mRNA molecule, which can then be translated to produce the protein molecule (polypeptide) encoded by the original gene
