BD = 36

Explanation:

• the diagonals of a parallelogram bisect each other , so

BE = DE , that is

15x - 12 = 9x ( subtract 9x from both sides )

6x - 12 = 0 ( add 12 to both sides )

6x = 12 ( divide both sides by 6 )

x = 2

Then

BD = BE + ED

= 15x - 12 + 9x

= 24x - 12 ( substitute x = 2 )

= 24(2) - 12

= 48 - 12

= 36
