The first step is to distribute.
So it would be:
2(x) + 2(5) = 3(x) + 3(1)
That gives you:
2x+10=3x+3
After this want you to get the X on one side so you would subtract 2x from both sides:
2x-2x=0
3x-2x=X
So you now have:
10=x+3
Now you want to get the X by itself so subtract 3 from both sides
3-3=0
10-3=7
This gives you:
X=7
Which is your answer
