Why do you think the police considered those they arrested at the age Haymarket Riot to be anarchists?

Well they were revolting against how big businesses treated them which in the larger picture means they were revolting against a capitalistic society which is what the government supported. The police saw these riots as a direct threat to capitalism since the working class was rising up which sounds a lot like socialism, something the government disliked very much which explains why they viewed the participants to be anarchists
