Work/explanation:

This system has been solved by the graphing method; both equations have been graphed, and to find the solution, I need to find the point where both graphs intersect. And the graphs are the lines.

The x co-ordinate of the point is the solution for x, and the y co-ordinate of the point is the solution for y.

In our case, the lines intersect at (1, -2), which means that the value of x is 1, and the value of y is -2.
