Do you mean the Hungarian Revolution of 1956?

At this time, Hungary was controlled and de-facto occupied by the Soviet Union. There were no free elections and all the decisions in the country had to be approved by the Soviets.

The Hungarian revolution was a protest against that. The main demand was free elections.
