Average velocity =

(distance between start-point and end-point) / (time to travel)
AND
(direction from start-point to end-point)

Distance between start and finish . . . . . 5 m
Time to travel . . . . . 10 s
Direction from start to finish . . . north

Average velocity = 0.5 m/s north
