60x^2y^2 , 35xz^3

GCF(60x^2y^2;\ 35xz^3)=5x

I look at the similarities in factors then write them down. So 60 and 35, they have 5 (highest factor possible) in common. Now look at the variables. The only thing they have in common are the x's, and the second one doesn't have ^2, so its just x. That's how I got the final answer as 5x
