i actually did cross multiply

look

_$14__=_30%__

_X__ =_100_

30x=100*14

30x/30_= _1400/30_ divide

x =46.666

about $46.67

i think with my work iam not sure though but...

a 30% discount means you paid 70% of the original cost

x = original cost

x(70%) = 14

x(0.70) = 14

x = 14/0.70 = 20

the original cost before the 30% discount was . . . $20
