Hi, I'd say the answer is B. In the first sentence, there is no participial phrase. C doesn't have a participle, "swimming" is a gerund, as well as "staying up" in the last example. B is correct because "shutting out their opponent" has a verbal use, it describes the verb "celebrated" more thoroughly. And you can transform that participial phrase into a dependent clause, just to be sure - "After they had shut out their opponent, the other team celebrated in victory".
