= 8.
X -7 = 8 X -7
2k - 10 = -56
2k - 10 + 10 = -56 + 10
2k = -46
2k / 2 = -46 / 2
k = -23

Take it slow ... one little step at a time:

(2k - 10) / -7 = 8

Multiply each side by -7 : 2k - 10 = -56

Add 10 to each side: 2k = -46

Divide each side by 2 : k = -23
