I think that the best answer is this one:

octave; sestet

Actually a sonet is composed of octave and sestet: first the octave, then the sestet.

A couplet
Volta is the beginning of the sested (so it would be in the middle)
The last answer would also be not far from truth, but a proper petrarchan sonnet does not end with a couplet.
