-2 ( a - 8 ) + 6a = 36

- 2a + 16 + 6a = 36

4a + 16 = 36

4a = 36 - 16

4a = 20

a = 5

Have a nice days..............

-2(a-8)+6=36 (distribute the -2 into a and -8)
-2a+16+6a=36 (combine like terms -2a+6a)
16+4a=36 (subtract 16 to both sides 16-16 and 36-16)
4a=20 (divide 4 to both sides)
a=5
