In the Rutherford's experiment,

The observations describes the nature of the atom as an atom mostly consist of an empty space.

When a positive charge particle was incident on the atom, it get deflected 180 degree when moving towards the centre of the atom.

This shows the presence of the positive charge at the center of an atom.

Thus, from this observation, the Rutherford describe the presence of positive charge in the center of an atom.
