Lets say a number = n

8 times the difference of a number and 3 (the difference between two numbers mean you have to subtract them)

8 times (n - 3) (the reason why i put the parentheses is because you are supposed to subtract these 2 numbers first before any thing else)

8 * (n - 3)

The answer is A.

Letter A is the correct answer because you can obviously exit out c and d, but yo get a good phrase you might as well have some parentheses to make this work because without it, would be confusing :)
