How do you get 24 with the numbers 3, 9, 7, and 1?

There are two answers to this.


(9!)/(7!) * (1)/(3)= (9* 8 * 7!)/(7!) *(1)/(3) = 9 * 8 *(1)/(3) = 3* 8 = 24

But if you can only use addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, you can also do:


(9)/(3) * (7+1) = (9)/(3) * 8 = 3 * 8 = 24

There is one way that you can do it that involves multiplication, division, addition, and subtraction, and that uses all the numbers only once.


9 / 3* (7+1)

Solving it using PEMDAS, you get:


9/3 * 8\\\\3 * 8\\\\24

So your answer is
9 / 3* (7+1)
