The correct answer to this particular question seems easy once you know it. If a football team loses 3 yards on one play and 6 yards on another, the sum of negative integers used to represent this situation would be -3+(-6)

For this case we are going to write the amount of yards lost for each of the games as negative integers.

We have then:

Game 1 = -3

Game 2 = -6

Adding the amount of yards lost for the two games we have:

(-3) + (- 6) = -9

This means that between both games 9 yards were lost

Answer:

(-3) + (- 6) = -9

They lost 9 yards in both games.
