2p=7+q \\ 6p-3q=24 \\ \\ \hbox{divide the second equation by 3:} \\ (6)/(3)p-(3)/(3)q=(24)/(3) \\ 2p-q=8 \\ \\ \hbox{substitute 7+q for 2p in the equation:} \\ 7+q-q=8 \\ 7=8 \\ not \ true \\ \\ \boxed{\hbox{no solutions}}
