In order to solve for total sales, you first must solve for the amount of sales tax. Since she bought 3 yards of cloth, she bought
2.25*3=$6.75 worth of cloth. Now to find the sales tax, multiply that value by
0.05, which looks like
6.75*0.05=0.34 (I'm rounding to the nearest cent). So to solve for the total cost, add those two values together. So the answer is
6.75+0.34=$7.09, which is answer choice D.
