What were the differences between the Middle Ages and the Renaissance in the attitude toward worldly pleasures?

The middle ages the Europeans were not willing to change, killing one another while paying heavily into the Silk road. (Later disease came from the silk road wiping out 1/3 of Europe.)

In the Renaissance how ever the Europeans were trying to find was to get a direct route to both China, and India for cheaper goods, and others ways to get more money.
