Possible values for x and y can be written as (x, y).
To check if that is a solution to the equation, we would replace the variables in our equation with those values and see if the two sides are equal.

For (3, 11)
y = 2x+5 where x=3 and y=11
11 = 2×3 + 5
11 = 6 + 5
11 = 11
So (3, 11) is a solution to y = 2x+5.

You would know that it is not a solution if the equation is not true.
1 = 2×2 + 5
1 = 4 + 5
1 = 9
So (2,1) is not a solution to y = 2x+5.

One thing. Since you didn't put a plus or minus sign between 2x and 5 in your question, it could also be y = 2x-5. In that case, the solution would be (5, 5)
5 = 2×5 - 5
5 = 10 - 5
5 = 5
(5, 5) is a solution to y = 2x-5.
