Since the number of miles is 790

Since the number of gallons used for these miles is 33 1/3

Then we will divide the number of miles by the number of gallons

to get the number of miles per gallon

790 ÷ 33 1/3

At first, we should change the mixed number to an improper fraction

33(1)/(3)=(33*3+1)/(3)=(99+1)/(3)=(100)/(3)

Then let us divide them by changing the division sign by multiplication sign

and flip the fraction 100/3

790\text{ / }(100)/(3)=790*(3)/(100)

Let us multiply 790 by 3, then divide by 100

790*3=3*700+3*90=2100+270=2370

Then let us divide 2370 by 100

(2370)/(100)=(237)/(10)=23(7)/(10)

The number of miles per gallon is 23 7/10
