Ralph Waldo Emerson is credited with Transcendentalism and was a great influence on other Transcendentalist writers like Thoreau.

Crockett was a frontiersman, Melville wrote about a big white whale, and Stowe wrote Uncle Tom's Cabin so it's not any of them.
