Emilio's teacher asks him to draw a triangle that contains a right angle. Two of the three sides of the triangle must have measurements of 5 inches and 7 inches. How many possible measurements are there for the third side of the triangle?

You must add 5 and 7 which equals 12, then it will be any number greater than 12 to make the last side possible

In order for the triangle to be a right triangle, the sides must fill the equation a squared + b squared = c squared. So you would do 5 squared plus 7 squared = c squared, which means one possible side is the square root of 74, and then you have to do 5 squared + b squared = 7 squared and see what that is and then do 7 squared + b squared = 5 squared and see what that equals. Those are your three answers
