number=x since unknon
add 3 to x
3+x, thenmultiply by 5
(3+x) timmes 5 answer is 35
5(3+x)=35
now distribute useing distributive property
a(b+c)=ab+ac
5(3+x)=15+5x
15+5x=35
subtract 15 from both sides
5x=20
divide both sides by 5
x=4
the nuber is 4
