Explanation:

Divide then subtract to get x by itself

-30=5(x+1)

Divide each side by 5= -30/5=5(x+1)/5

-30=x+1

-6=x+1

-6-1=x+1-1 Subtract one to get x by itself

-6-1=x+1-1 (cross out both x's.

-6-1=x
