let the consecutive integers be x and x+1
x+2(x+1)=74
or x+2x+2=74
3x=74-2=72
x=72/3=24
x+1=24+1=25
hence numbers are 24 and 25

consecutive integers are 1 apart
they are x and x+1

sum of firt and twice the 2nd is 74
sum is addition
twice is 2 times

x+2(x+1)=74
distribute
x+2x+2=74
add like terms
3x+2=74
minus 2 both sides
3x=72
divide both sides by 3
x=24
x+1=25

the numbers are 24 and 25
