Simplifying X + 4y = 36 Solving X + 4y = 36 Solving for variable 'X'. Move all terms containing X to the left, all other terms to the right. Add '-4y' to each side of the equation. X + 4y + -4y = 36 + -4y Combine like terms: 4y + -4y = 0 X + 0 = 36 + -4y X = 36 + -4y Simplifying X = 36 + -4y

For the answer to the question above, just plug in 0 for x to find the y-intercept
0 + 4y = 36
4y = 36
y = 9
y-intercept (0, 9)

Plug in 0 for y to find the x-intercept
x + 4(0) = 36
x = 36
x-intercept (36, 0)
