Read the passage.

This girl is guilty of a double insolence,
Breaking the given laws and boasting of it.
Who is the man here,
She or I, if this crime goes unpunished?

What helps Creon make the choice to punish Antigone?



A)He feels the need to assert his power over others.

B)He is afraid he will be punished by the gods if he doesn't punish her.

C)Creon is disgusted by Ismene's mindlessness and knows that punishing Antigone will hurt her.

D)Creon is afraid that his subjects are losing respect for human law.

Im not entirely sure but it's between A and D.
The fact she broke and boasted about it could be taken as a reason why he saw the punishment fit.
But the fact he questioned who the man was if she wasn't punished, then A backs it up with his need to show power over others.
Due to the almost explicitness with 'who is the man', but no other mention for the importance of human law, then the answer is A.

tl;dr The answer should be A.
